The next day we took the ferry to Angel Island for a day of hiking, touring military forts, and hanging out on the beach.
It was a nice short ride to the island. Jay and I got a kick out of all our curious onlookers bobbing in the water, the seals.
Once we arrived on the island (which actually used to be connected the SF before sea levels rose) we thought we'd check out the view. It was breathtaking. Not only because of all the exertion of climbing up to the highest point of the island on Mount Livermore. Our eyes were rewarded by the 360 panoramic views of the bay.

Chris pointed out how we were only a stone's throw away from the hustle bustle of the city and yet it was serenely quiet. We all just closed our eyes for that moment and listened to the sound of nothing : )

Now that we had conquered the peak, it was time to explore the rest of the island. After all, this historic landmark was once a military base and later an immigration station ("The Ellis Island of the West").

We had the most wonderful weekend celebrating, in fact it felt like all our birthdays. We love you so much husby/baba - happy birthday sweetheart.
